Scholarship Sites
On this page, you will find Scholarship Search Sites for you to use. A lot of them will help you find the same scholarships, find the one that works best for you.
What to Do Before You Sign Up for Scholarship Sites...
Ditch the novelty email
.
It is very important to have a professional email address. This email typically is your first and last name at whatever domain you choose. For example, all of your Harper Creek teachers have the professional email of their last name and first initial @hapercreek.net (example: eickhoffm@harpercreek.net). You could something like that.
Keep track of your scholarships
. As you start applying for scholarships keep track of them. You could create an Excel or Word document to write down the name of the scholarship, when you started the application, when you submitted it and if there was anything you had to submit (transcripts, letter of recommendation, essay).
Be aware of scams
. There are a lot of "scholarship" websites out there. They usually ask you to pay them to help you find scholarships, are sweepstakes, or a contest. If something does not look right on the website or email do not do it. You can come in and talk with your counselor and we will help you figure out if it is a legitimate scholarship.
Be prepared!
Applying for scholarships is not a sprint, it is a marathon. You have to pace yourself and give yourself the time to work on your applications. You should make sure you have things together that you need to complete the application. These might be a copy of your latest transcript, letters of recommendation or an essay. Make sure to ask people for a letter of recommendation ahead of time and give them a purpose or perspective to write the letter from.

Scholarship Owl
Is a free online scholarship search tool that automates and simplifies the process of finding, matching, and applying for scholarships for college and graduate school. Students can easily start their search by entering in several pieces of information: name, birth date, gender, current school level, and (desired/future) field of study. Based on the information entered, the site will provide students with a list of scholarships for which they are eligible. An additional plus of the site is that ScholarshipOwl can help students apply to multiple scholarships at once with ONE application.
Scholarships.com
Gives students access to over 3.7 million local, state, and national scholarships and grants. This scholarship search site is known to be commonly used by students and recognized by high schools, colleges, and universities nationwide. Helpful features include a scholarship search that matches scholarships based on a student’s profile and a scholarship directory where students can search by criteria such as academic major or merit- versus need-based. Additionally, there’s a student resources tab that has handouts and guides to assist students with tracking scholarship deadlines, a scholarship application checklist, and essay-writing tips.
Scholarships 360
Is an organization that prides itself on carefully picking reputable scholarships to highlight on its site. As students enter the website, they can simply enter their year in school to begin a search. There’s a college-specific scholarship tab that allows students to search by institution, and the list of colleges is continuing to grow. This is a great feature if a student has already been accepted to a college and is interested in scholarship opportunities at that particular institution. Need expert advice? There’s a blog where students can get insights from experts in higher education, financial aid, and of course scholarships!
